Where We Are Going:
Today, we leave the turquoise coastline behind and head deep into the heart of Sri Lanka’s wilderness. Depending on your preference for leopards or elephants, you will journey to either Yala or Udawalawe National Park, passing through lush rural villages and emerald rice paddies along the way.
What You Will Experience:
-
Changing Landscapes: Enjoy a scenic drive away from the coast, watching the terrain shift from salty sea breezes to the dry, golden savannahs of the island's wildlife sanctuaries.
-
The Thrill of the Hunt (Yala): If you choose Yala, you are entering one of the best places in the world to spot the elusive Sri Lankan Leopard. Keep your camera ready for sloth bears, massive crocodiles, and vibrant peacocks wandering through the scrub forests.
-
The Kingdom of Giants (Udawalawe): If you choose Udawalawe, prepare for a more intimate experience. This park is famous for its guaranteed elephant sightings, where you can witness large family herds and calves roaming freely across the open plains.
-
Golden Hour Safari: Experience the wild during the "Golden Hour" on an afternoon Jeep Safari. Led by expert trackers, you’ll navigate rugged trails as the animals become most active before the sun sets.
