    Where We Are Going:

Deep into the lush wet-zone rainforest of Kitulgala, the adventure capital of Sri Lanka. Where We Are Going:

Explore the second ancient capital of Sri Lanka, Polonnaruwa, before heading into the wild heart of the island’s northern plains. Important Note for the Client:

Our safari team monitors elephant movements daily to decide whether Minneriya or Kaudulla offers the best sightings, as the herds migrate between the two parks based on water levels. For Polonnaruwa, we recommend wearing socks as you'll be removing your shoes at sacred stone sites, and the midday sun can make the stone quite hot!

Frequently Asked & Question

Most travelers require an Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA). You can easily apply online before your arrival. As of 2026, many nationalities are eligible for free or simplified entry, but it is always best to check the official Sri Lanka Silk Route or ETA portal a few days before you fly.

For this specific itinerary, a private air-conditioned vehicle with a dedicated driver-guide is highly recommended. It allows you to manage the transitions between the hills, the east coast, and the cultural triangle comfortably and on your own schedule.

When visiting sacred sites like the Temple of the Tooth or Dambulla Caves, both men and women must cover their shoulders and knees. We recommend carrying a lightweight sarong or scarf in your day bag. You will also need to remove your shoes, so slip-on sandals are very practical.

This itinerary is excellent from May to September. While the southwest might see some rain, this is the peak season for the East Coast (Trincomalee), offering calm seas for whale watching and crystal-clear water for snorkeling at Pigeon Island.

  • Whale Watching: Usually starts very early (around 6:00 AM – 6:30 AM).

  • Wildlife Safaris: Afternoon sessions (3:00 PM) are often best for seeing elephants as they come out to drink, though morning sessions are great for birdwatching.

It is best to stick to bottled or filtered water, which is widely available. Most hotels provide complimentary glass or plastic bottled water daily.

Since you'll be spending time in the rainforest (Kitulgala) and dry zone jungles (Sigiriya), it is a good idea to bring an effective insect repellent, especially for evening safaris and camping.

Credit cards (Visa/Mastercard) are widely accepted in hotels, larger restaurants, and shopping malls like CCC. However, you will need Sri Lankan Rupees (LKR) for tips, small local shops, and village tours.

Most hotels and cafes offer free Wi-Fi. For constant connectivity, you can pick up a tourist SIM card at the airport (BIA) arrival hall for a very low cost.
